Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Kimberly – Clark De Mexico A (BMV:KIMBERA), which rose 5.44% or 1.52 points to trade at 29.47 at the close. Meanwhile, Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) added 4.96% or 2.14 points to end at 45.30 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA) was up 4.10% or 0.61 points to 15.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA), which fell 4.24% or 0.64 points to trade at 14.47 at the close. Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) declined 2.75% or 0.45 points to end at 15.94 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1) was down 2.35% or 2.68 points to 111.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 129 to 104 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.24% or 0.64 to 14.47. Shares in Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.35% or 2.68 to 111.40.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.24% or 32.36 to $2,640.46 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.57% or 1.11 to hit $69.47 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $72.90 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.00% to 20.09, while EUR/MXN fell 0.43% to 20.94.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 107.57.
