Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Energy, REITs and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were BROOKFIELD ASSET MANAGEMENT LTD (TSX:BAM), which rose 3.72% or 2.92 points to trade at 81.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd . (TSX:AEM) added 3.55% or 4.06 points to end at 118.32 and Kinaxis Inc (TSX:KXS) was up 3.23% or 5.54 points to 177.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which fell 9.32% or 9.92 points to trade at 96.49 at the close. BRP Inc (TSX:DOO) declined 6.00% or 4.28 points to end at 67.00 and Linamar Corporation (TSX:LNR) was down 5.61% or 3.56 points to 59.85.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 598 to 333 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in BROOKFIELD ASSET MANAGEMENT LTD (TSX:BAM) rose to all time highs; rising 3.72% or 2.92 to 81.34. Shares in Kinaxis Inc (TSX:KXS) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.23% or 5.54 to 177.20.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.28% to 10.81.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.61% or 16.01 to $2,658.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.39% or 0.27 to hit $68.67 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.29 to trade at $72.19 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.52% to 0.71, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.41% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 106.85.
